The Squeeze Page and Google.
;
It has been some time since Google
made changes that adversely affected many sites, specifically
PPC campaigns and squeeze pages. Now we all know what
happened!
To prevent this disaster happening to you in the near future
it has become imperative that you should change from the old
way of doing things (as if you didn’t already know
this). At least this does not mean an entire restructuring
of your squeeze pages and your sites, just some alterations.
This is not hard and fast but comes from my own experimentation
and what I have read from others who are also having a good look
at the Google rules regarding squeeze pages.
Here are the new “rules” you
should look at and if possible stick to:
-
Your squeeze page should not be a single page website
-
Your squeeze page content should be between
200 to 300 words. Although this might seem a lot
it really is not if you use the benefits of the products
as content and elaborate a bit more on how it will make
life easier for the visitor.
-
There should be links on the page linking to pages
of similar content, in your own site and to other
sites. Now you don’t need hundreds, just 6 to 8 links
in total. Yes, the links do seem to defeat the purpose
of the squeeze page but if you place the links
at the bottom of the page they will be unobtrusive
and should the visitor get to them chances are good that
he will not subscribe anyway. (the more sneaky linking
method is described in "Squeeze Pages Demystified")
-
If you have many visitors clicking away from your squeeze
page you should relook your offer and sales pitch.
If you abide to these “rules” your squeeze
page should
be safe and you will not be receiving any $5 clicks from your
PPC campaign. Your page will also be indexed and if you did your
SEO correctly you will appear in the generic searches.
This is quite a bit of extra work and you now
need to make sure that the money, time and effort you
spend building your list actually pays off.
List building with squeeze pages is a long term business.
The bigger your list, the bigger your income. Sounds easy?
You will only make this happen if you take good care
of your subscribers, and use the correct marketing
techniques to market to them. You paid a lot of money
to get them, if you don’t keep them all that money and
time is wasted and you will have a worthless list.

The Structure Of Your Campaign
For your squeeze pages to succeed you need to structure your
entire campaign so that every page leads to the next and does
not disorientate the reader.
What do I mean by that?
Lets have a look how it was done with an example.
Adwords
Ad
Need Paying Keywords?

The adwords ad is asking a lead in question identifying the
target market, then makes a statement that you can get paying
keywords with a new tool. The person who clicks on this ad will
want to find out how to search for these keywords. Which leads
to the heading of the squeeze page.

Getting All The Sales?
Here is more space than in the adwords ad so we pose the question
and qualify the reader. He or she needs to be someone using adwords
or other PPC campaigns and has to be in marketing. We all know
how hard it is to find those converting keywords.
How would you feel if I told you now
you can:
With the subheading we are now leading into the benefits and
we have an answer to the problem he has.
Below are five benefits that he can expect from using the tool.
We are not giving any specifics on how all this is achieved,
this is done by the sales page that we want him to go to.
-
Find out how many others are using the same
word you are aiming at.
-
Know what they are paying in an instant.
-
What you should bid to rank first.
-
Know which phrases have the best sales conversion
rates.
-
And which keywords are just going to cost
you money.
Get yourself in the FIRST place in the race for
sales, and easily beat the top guns at their own game.
Just fill in your details to receive weekly tips
on keyword analysis and how it can increase your sales. You will
then immediately be redirected to 'Name Of Your Product'.
In the last sentence we expand on the idea of the keyword research
by offering a weekly newsletter with a tip on finding and exploring

keyword research. The offer does not take the reader away from
the main idea of purchasing the product we are promoting, we
are offering him a value add on.
